Qingdao Parks, Gardens and Qingdao Arboretums
(Qingdao, Shandong, China, CN)
Many traditional Chinese gardens and expansive parks are dotted around the city of Qingdao, often seeming to be rather tucked away, atop small hills and off winding lanes. The parks of Guanhaishan, Xinhaoshan and Qingdaoshan are all worth search out, while Qingdao's Zhongshan Park is easy to find and extremely popular with both tourists and locals.
Further afield, Laoshan National Park offers superb coastal views and a number of appealing walking trails, while Taipingshan Park is home to the breathtaking Zhangshan Temple, the biggest temple in the whole of Qingdao and full of golden buddhas. Useful information about Qingdao's main parks, gardens and important areas of green is shown below.

The paths get considerably steep at points and some effort is required to reach the top. However, on reaching the summit you will realise it was worth the effort when you take in the impressive views over Qingdao that the vantage point affords. The Xinhao Hill Hotel, an early 20th-century building, sits on the hill, and whilst it is no longer open for guests, visitors are welcome to explore its grandiose interior and appreciate its colonial architecture.
